Field Visite- Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, Rawalpindi

The Chief Minister's Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) conducted a comprehensive visit to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, Rawalpindi, to evaluate the hospital's overall operational performance and the quality of cardiac healthcare services being delivered to patients. During the inspection, the team assessed critical areas such as the availability of qualified cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and paramedical staff; timely disbursement of salaries; and the efficiency of the hospital’s administrative and management systems. They examined patient registration and treatment documentation, the daily patient load in outpatient and inpatient departments, the condition and functionality of medical equipment including ECG machines, ventilators, defibrillators, and catheterization labs. The team also reviewed the cleanliness and hygiene of patient wards, ICUs, and waiting areas, the maintenance of washroom facilities, and the availability of essential cardiac medicines and medical supplies. Additional evaluations included the structural integrity and security of the hospital’s boundary wall, provision of clean drinking water, and readiness and functionality of ambulance services. The team further verified whether patients were receiving free or subsidized treatment in line with government policies, monitored staff attendance and punctuality, ensured availability of emergency care services, and reviewed whether the medical and support staff had undergone any specialized training as part of government-initiated capacity-building or cardiac healthcare enhancement programs.
