Field Visit - Basic Health Unit

Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit Reviews Operational BHUs Across Punjab

The Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) conducted a series of field visits to Basic Health Units (BHUs) in key districts of Punjab, including Vehari, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Khanewal, Jhang, and Muzaffargarh. These visits aimed to evaluate the operational status, service quality, and overall preparedness of BHUs in delivering essential healthcare services to local communities.

During the inspections, SMU teams assessed the availability of qualified medical staff — including doctors, nurses, and paramedics — and verified stocks of essential medicines, medical supplies, and functional diagnostic equipment. Patient registration records, daily service volumes, treatment documentation, and hygiene and maintenance standards were thoroughly reviewed.

The teams also evaluated the upgraded infrastructure delivered under the government’s BHU revamping initiative, ensuring it meets sustainability and service demands. Special attention was given to equitable access for marginalized populations, staff responsiveness to emergencies, and adherence to Punjab Government healthcare protocols.

These visits underscore the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the primary healthcare system by ensuring BHUs remain fully functional, efficient, and capable of providing high-quality services — in line with the Chief Minister’s vision of accessible and equitable healthcare for all.
